The Tropical Medicine Dinner Club, is housed at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, and meets regularly at the Johns Hopkins University Club. The Dinner Club evolved more than 30 years ago as a means of enhancing communication among tropical health professionals. To do this the Club provides time for chat, camaraderie, and interaction as well as a topic of interest for presentation and discussion by known experts drawn from a wide spectrum of work. The group meets the first Wednesday of each month between October and May at the Hopkins Club on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus. There is ample parking space outside the Club, and we meet in a pleasant environment, with sufficient time for mingling and a light dinner followed by the talk. Many members come all the way from the Washington or other centers for the occasion. . This Club is committed to providing a unique opportunity for students/fellows/residents to meet, rub elbows and network with some of the legends of tropical medicine. That is why we feel that the Tropical Medicine Dinner Club is an investment in the future for professionals that are interested in tropical medicine.
Our Board Members, who are appointed on a yearly basis, comprise a very diverse group of professionals located in and around the Baltimore-Washington area who arrange formal presentations, uphold the by-laws, and help to develop an efficient communication network among individuals and institutions throughout the surrounding area.
